b2w2012-3Join the movement and bike to work during May, the official National Bike Month! And if you work downtown, definitely commute by bike on Indianapolis Bike to Work Day, Friday, May 17. This year, the event will be moving from Monument Circle to the Indy Bike Hub YMCA located in the east wing of the historic Indianapolis City Market.

This year’s B2WD event is being organized by INDYCOG; visit the INDYCOG web site to learn about organized commuter rides, led by experienced cyclists, leaving from various locations around the greater Indianapolis metropolitan area. Join the ride nearest you to take part in a fun group event! At the event, you can enjoy free breakfast, vendors, presentations, lunch hour rides and more.

The Pedal & Park corral will be open for free temporary parking from 7 a.m.–10:30 a.m.; all-day parking will be available inside the Indy Bike Hub from 7 a.m.–7 p.m.

Broad Ripple Art Fair

Sunday, May 12th, 2013

braf2012-5Each year in May, the Broad Ripple Art Fair brings hundreds of artists and thousands of visitors to the grounds of the Indianapolis Art Center on the north side of Broad Ripple Village. Scores of tents display an array of arts and crafts created and offered for sale by individuals. Food and refreshments also are available, and the riverside grounds and the classroom and gallery building are open for casual touring.

The Monon Trail provides easy access to the Fair because the IAC is located on the trail at White River.

Our Pedal & Park corral will be in its usual location a block south of the Monon entrance to the IAC grounds. We will park bicycles and skates Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visit us there and at all the other events on our 2013 season schedule.

Indy 500

Sunday, May 12th, 2013

Pedal & Park will again serve cyclists who pedal to the 2013 Indy 500 race. Billed as “the greatest spectacle in racing,” this world-renowned event draws top-ranked teams and drivers, and it also features what may be “the greatest way in and out of the race.” Our Pedal & Park corral, staffed by volunteers from the Speedway Trails Association, will be open two blocks south of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at 1111 Polco Street.

Area law enforcement officers close West 10th Street from White River Parkway to Lynhurst Avenue to allow emergency vehicle access, and bicycles will be allowed to use this route to get to the Pedal & Park corral. Polco Street intersects with West 10th, so ride 10th Street to Polco, then turn north to the Pedal & Park corral. Visit our Indy Greenways trail system page and double-click on the yellow pushpin in Speedway to zoom in on the corral location and the West 10th Street route.

The Pedal & Park Indy 500 corral will be open on race day, Sunday 26, from 6 a.m. to one hour after the race ends.
